I am a founding member of The Wedding DJ and come with a wealth of experience DJ’ing at weddings in KZN over the last 15 years. I specialise in young and fun celebrations, and am well known for getting the party started and keeping the dance floor full all night long without the need to play cheesy songs. At 40 years young I have the ability to connect to any crowd, young or old.
I cater for all ages during the evening and play well known songs which have been absolute hits over the years. A normal set will include a good balance of the latest and greatest hits currently on the airwaves, as well as pop and rock classics from the last few decades (70’s, 80’s , 90’s and early 2000’s). Getting the music right on the night is extremely important to me.
My reputation was built on excellent service and reliability, but most importantly great music. I love what I do and look forward to being part of your wedding celebration.

From humble beginnings learning the trade on turntables spinning vinyl records cemented my passion for DJing. Even though I’m now mixing the best party music for young and old on the latest high-end digital gear, I’m always focused on the most important part of any event – the guests. With over 10 years of DJ experience, if you want peace of mind, great music and a smile on the faces of your guests, you’ve arrived in the right place.
I pride myself on tailoring each and every wedding to my clients specific requirements. Everyone is unique, and so your wedding celebration should be too. A day of happy memories to remember for years to come.
I use only the best sound and lighting equipment. The likes of Pioneer, JBL and Martin Lighting to name but a few. I see weddings as my forte’ having supplied mobile DJ services to high profile weddings like that of Rugby World Cup player, Butch James, to small and intimate weddings with 50 guests. I aim to exceed expectations at any function, party or event that I play at.

Shaun Dickson

Its about making people remember that classic track they haven't heard in years.
Shaun started his career as a DJ in 1991 having played many dance clubs in South Africa.
He has performed before many big name bands like Cypress Hill and International Band BUSH as well as big parties exceeding 10 000 people. He used to play on three turntables which was quite a feat in the early days of beat matching.
He has mixed albums for EMI Records, Gallo records, David Gresham records and his own label.
Another highlight is appearing on Kiss FM London doing a live broadcast back to South Africa
He has been focusing on creating a vibrant atmosphere by using wall lighting and custom Signature lights to create that extra touch. The whole hall comes alive instead of just the dance floor.
Only the best JBL and Roland sound equipment is used.

I got involved in the Djing industry at the age of 16 and I was trained by some of Durban Finest DJ's in the Wedding and Corporate industry for many years. I then took the plunge and decided it would be a good idea to branch out myself. I started doing my own weddings and Corporate gigs by myself which was nerve wracking but I wouldn't have Changed it for the world. I also am very Lucky to be Involved at Durban Youth Radio which has given me a number of Opportunities. I Have been able to DJ and Open for the Likes of MI CASA of Johnny Clegg at the Nedbank Private Wealth Days and have Dj'd for a Number of Corporate Functions (Club Lesure Group) and I have DJ'd 40ths ,Matric Dances, Birthday Partys, 21sts, Weddings, Engagement Partys and ive played in all the Night clubs in Durban. My Biggest gig probably would be the Kearsney Craven Week which is a massive event in KZN and I was incharge of Sound for 6 Rugby Fields and Music and had to MC while trying to Control what was going on with the Supersport Commentators who were next to me in the Grand Stand. I have been very Lucky To have Played Internationally as well in the DRC Last year and will be going back in March for another gig. I am no stranger to a sucessful party and my music knowledge goes across the board.

Brendon Funnell
Since starting out in 1998, and as a founder member of The Wedding DJ, it’s been a rewarding and entertaining journey for “DJ Benny”. However, in 2016 Brendon decided to take a step back from the bright lights and late nights and hung up his headphones, so to speak.
Brendon now fulfils a behind the scenes role as an advisor and standby DJ at The Wedding DJ. This brings great confidence to all future brides booking any of our DJs in that should there ever be an emergency, Brendon is readily available to step in and seamlessly take over to ensure your wedding is the epic celebration it was always going to be.
Having been involved in easily over 500 weddings and functions in the almost 20 years (including Miss South Africa, TV, Music, Radio and Sports celebrities), you might just find the bug biting once again and Brendon assisting the guys from time to time.
